How to know when it’s time for DOGWOOD! the once-a-year downtown salute to spring
Because the dogwoods are blooming, and it’s spring and because music makes life interesting and your heart leap, Pomerene Center for the Arts announces DOGWOOD! lunch concerts an annual event (with two years off for Covid) since 1985. Hot off the grill, grilled cheese sandwiches daily. Music schedule is as follows May 7-10 , noon .
Tues May 7, noon – Coshocton High School Jazz Band and Choir
Wednesday May 8, noon – River View Jazz Band, Caribbean Drum and Certified Gold Ensembles
Thursday May 9, noon – Ridgewood High School Choirs
Friday May 10, noon – Ridgewood High School Jazz Band
Curious about what being in a school band or choir means to kids, Artistic Director Anne Cornell asked last year “what’s good about this for you?” Without prepared responses the students repeatedly said that belonging, being a part of a supportive group was really important. Cornell then asked the directors how the community can best support their programs, to a person the band and choir directors answered — be our audience. Dawn Anglin of River View added “and bring someone young with you.”
The Pom invites you to come out, bring someone young and help us kick off our free outdoor concert season. DOGWOOD! will be held at noon in the artPARK, 325 Main Street. Rain site: Fellowship Room at Coshocton Presbyterian Church on the corner of Chestnut and 4th Streets.
Fresh off the grill
This year with much anticipation, the Pom will be rolling out (literally) our new smokeless flat top wood grills (photo above) and serving grilled cheese sandwiches featuring Coshocton County’s world champion swiss with a selection of other cheeses made at Pearl Valley Cheese. Make sure we have a grilled cheese for you — order below.
